More Disneyland

We've been enjoying our Disneyland annual passes. We went for B's birthday, with our cousins, just for fun and any other excuse we could think of to spend a day at Disneyland!

Hawaii

We just got back from a trip to Hawaii. We were going to go in April, but due to B's work and schedule, we decided to go in February instead. We got flights and things worked out and headed on our way. Because my sister and her family live in Maui, they watched A for us for a few days so that we could go scuba diving. (Thank you Thank you) We went on 3 good dives and were able to see a lot of sea turtles and all kinds of fish. On one of the dives we also saw a white tip reef shark. Mala wharf is known for having sharks, but B assured me that they are hard to see and we probably wouldn't see one. Well, this one just happened to be out in plain sight for us...B swam up close to him to take a picture, but I hung back since I wasn't too thrilled about seeing him.

February is whale season in Maui. The humpback whales are in abundance Feb-April. They are there to give birth to their young. From the condo which is right off the ocean, you can see the whales in the distance. It is a lot of fun to watch them. We also went on a whale cruise, which A didn't enjoy very much, but the boat get us up much closer to the whales and we see their tails come out of the water and every once in a while if you're lucky, they're breach for you. We saw a couple of them breach. It is an awesome sight.

After a week, B had to come back, but A and I stayed with my sister and her family. It was fun to visit with them and see the great views from their house. They live a ways from the beach, halfway up to the volcano, Haleakala, but you can see the ocean at a distance from their house and they get beautiful sunsets.

Rocking Horse

B made a rocking horse for A for Christmas. I was surprised at how well it turned out. He really worked hard on it and A has really enjoyed it. It still needs to be painted and have a mane put on, but it is a very sturdy rocking horse.

Trip to Utah

We went to Wyoming and Utah to spend Christmas with our families. We chose the wrong day to leave, because we left the day there was a record snowstorm in Vegas. We left in the afternoon with plans to stay in Vegas that night and continue on the next day. As we started out, we heard that the 1-15 was closed near Baker Hill in CA. We then decided to try another route and took the 10 to the 95 near the Arizona border. When we arrived in Needles, NV, the 95 was closed too. Finally at midnight we got a room in Laughlin, NV, since every road to Vegas was closed. It usually takes us 6 hrs to get to Vegas and we had been driving for 9 hrs before finally stopping in Laughlin. The next day we continued on to UT and the roads were nice and clear.

These are pictures of the Hoover Dam which we passed by the next day on our way to Vegas.

Scuba Certification

B really wanted me to get scuba certified since he is and he loves to go scuba diving. We finally found a good place to get me certified here in CA. I spent the last month attending classes and doing a couple of open water dives to finish my certification. I am now officially certified.
